The Eagle Tree

The Eagle Tree Mary Todd
Two miles from the river is an old tree with some high dead branches. Bald eagles come and sit, sometimes surveying the geese flocks, sometimes appearing to enjoy the sun.

One time i watched a beautiful mated pair and their juvenile offspring sit in a relaxed manner for 20 minutes (perhaps watching for rabbits).

I have read that it takes a huge amount of energy for these large raptors to take off flying (more so from the ground i suppose, than from a branch) so i quietly left the scene. I read that so many tourists (up north somewhere) were disturbing eagles by trying to get good photos that the park rangers felt they were contributing to low weight/poor health.
